Key nouns — use the words
Some nouns name things you can touch. Others name ideas — and those are the ones writers need.

2order means about the same as what comes first.
We put the steps in order.
3amount means about the same as how much.
A small amount of water is left.
Two ways to say it
✗ The why ice melts is heat. — this is not wrong, but it is everyday talk.
✓ The reason ice melts is heat. — this is how a writer says it.
Ask yourself: “Does my sentence still make sense without the word?”
Remember
A word is yours when you have used it.
