Grip and posture, checked
A grip that was right in Grade 1 has usually drifted over a summer, so it is re-set before anything is written.
What it is
Neat writing is mostly the body, not the hand. Both feet flat, back against the chair, paper tilted the same way as your writing arm, and the other hand holding the page still. A page slides if nobody holds it, and a sliding page cannot be written on neatly.
Watch it built
1Feet flat, back touching the chair.
sit
2Tilt the paper the same way your writing arm points, and hold it with the OTHER hand.
tilt & hold
3Pinch loosely. If your fingers are white, you are gripping too hard.
loose grip
Remember
Feet flat. Other hand holds the page. Loose grip.
Ask yourself: “Three fingers holding, two curled in?”
Remember
Grip first, then the letter.
