The same letters, a smaller space — into the notebook
Notebook ruling has no dashed middle line, so the child must hold the letter height themselves.
What it is
Notebook lines are much closer together than the ones you have practiced on. Your letters have to shrink, but the three heights stay exactly as they were: tall to the top line, small to the middle, tails below.
Watch it built
1Look at the space between two notebook lines. It is about half what you are used to.
narrower
2Write a small letter that fills only the middle. Do not let it touch the top.
a c e
3Write a tall letter beside it. It should be about twice the height.
b d h
Remember
Everything shrinks. The three heights stay in proportion.
Ask yourself: “Is my small letter about half the height of a tall one?”
Remember
The middle line moves into your head.
