Key nouns — use the words

A word is yours when you can put it in a sentence that needed it.

The words

subject
what it is about
result
what happened
example
one that shows it
purpose
what it is for

Watch how it is built

1subject means about the same as what it is about.
The subject of the book is the desert.
2result means about the same as what happened.
The result was that the ice melted.
3example means about the same as one that shows it.
A robin is an example of a bird.

Two ways to say it

✗ The what it is about of the book is the desert. — this is not wrong, but it is everyday talk.

✓ The subject of the book is the desert. — this is how a writer says it.

Ask yourself: “Would my sentence still work if I took the word out?”

Remember

A word is yours when you have used it.
